The Arc of the Emerald Coast will close its Adult Day Center in Crestview on May 31, but it won't cancel services for clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to Arc CEO John Roper.

The Arc will provide Life Skills Development Training to Crestview residents at their choice of the Fort Walton Beach or Milton facility, with transportation services provided. It will continue providing other services such as supported living, supported employment and is currently planning to build a group home in Crestview in the upcoming year.

"Times are changing, and after 25 years, we have made the purely business decision to close that facility on May 31, 2017. We regret this is necessary, but are happy to continue to offer services at both our Fort Walton and Milton locations. As always, our hope is to provide the best training services and help our clients achieve their goals. We believe this to be the best way to accomplish this," said Roper.

"We have invited the families to come tour both locations, and will have the Crestview Adult Day manager, Julie Petrushak, coming to our Fort Walton Beach location. We are happy to say that the families have been very receptive".
