The current National Weather Service forecast is calling for a 50 percent chance of rain along the Emerald Coast with possible thunderstorm activity on Sunday afternoon.
According to a NWS thunderstorm map, which shows possible areas of concern across the country, there are two key sections — one that includes the Florida Panhandle and extends into portions of Alabama and Georgia, and another in south Florida — where a 40 percent chance of thunderstorm activity is possible.
“There is some concern for isolated severe thunderstorms to pop up Sunday afternoon,” AccuWeather senior meteorologist Frank Strait said.
AccuWeather also noted in its Sunday morning report: "The threat for flooding downpours and thunderstorms strong enough to cause sporadic power outages remains."
After today's wet weather passes, the forecast is dry with bright sun and temperatures well into the 70's through Wednesday.
