CRESTVIEW — A man who broke into a pawn shop and stole a gun, but left his bicycle was caught and charged with armed burglary, grand theft, grand theft of a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to his Crestview Police Department arrest report, the 28-year-old Mobile, Alabama, man not only left his bike behind, but a bag containing hotel cards and a receipt for a hotel in Crestview.

They went to the hotel and found the suspect, who admitted to breaking into the business and stealing items. He also said the red bike was his.

After talking to officers, he wrote a voluntary letter of apology to the business.

Officers found the stolen gun hidden in some vegetation near the suspect’s hotel room.

The letter of apology was entered into evidence.
