CRESTVIEW — Law enforcement officers from across Okaloosa County are gearing up for the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics soon. Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials request that motorists be careful driving near the run participants, and practice patience as they work to raise money for Florida’s Special Olympians.

The Crestview run begins around 9 a.m. March 29 and will go north on Highway 85 from the Publix to the Okaloosa County Veterans Memorial on Main Street.

In the Fort Walton Beach area, the run will begin at 11 a.m. March 29 at the Publix off Racetrack Road, and will travel south along Eglin Parkway to Brooks Street and US Highway 98, ending at Fort Walton Landing.

Area residents may show their support of the effort by dropping off a donation at any area law enforcement agency or go to specialolympics.org for more information.
