The University of Alabama reeled in a surprise commitment on Saturday. Jordan Davis, a junior defensive end from Southwind High School in Memphis, Tennessee, announced via Twitter his commitment.

Davis visited Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl and was extended a scholarship offer. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound lineman is the third commitment in the 2018 class for Alabama, joining Malcolm Epps, four-star tight end from DeKaney High School in Spring, Texas, and Dameon Pierce, four-star running back from Bainbridge High School in Georgia.

"First off, would like to give thanks to God for blessing me with my natural ability to play the game I love," Davis said in an statement released on Twitter. "I would also like to say thank you to all the people that supported me and praying for me throughout the process. After reviewing my options, praying, talking to my family, friends, and mentors, I have decided to commit to the University of Alabama. Roll Tide! Where Legends are Made."

The University of Alabama is hosting several star athletes for official visits this weekend. A very high-profile prospect will announce his decision this week. Alabama or LSU? Stay tuned daily to for the very latest news.
