A violent one-vehicle crash has left a Texas man dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A FHP news release reported that Delbert Ray Morgan Jr., 44, of Royse City, Texas, was traveling south on State Road 85, a little more than one-half mile north of Ludlum Road, in a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer at midnight Saturday when for an unknown reason the vehicle left the roadway onto the west shoulder.
Morgan overcorrected, according to the release, sending the Blazer across the northbound lane onto the east shoulder of S.R. 85. At that point, the vehicle collided with an electrical box and power pole before overturning.
Morgan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and came to rest in a nearby wooded area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP noted alcohol results are pending.
