Christmas concert will benefit Big Red Machine
Crestview High School junior Jordan Colclasure has entertained patrons dining at the Uptown Café and the Coach ‘n’ Four Steakhouse. He’s played his keyboard for middle and elementary school kids, and he’s performed at Relay For Life events around the county.
Next month, he’ll tickle the ivories in a fund-raiser Christmas concert at the Crestview Community Center benefiting the Crestview High School band.
“This will be the first full fledged concert ever performed at the new facility, and for this event nothing will be held back,” promised Jordan’s dad and number one fan, Pete Colclasure.
Backed by a band of local musicians, Jordan’s playlist will include holiday favorites such as the Eagles’ “Please Come Home for Christmas,” Alabama’s “Christmas in Dixie,” and Dan Fogelberg’s “Same Auld Lang Syne.”
Colclasure said Jordan has been working since the summer on some new original Christmas tunes for the concert, including the first public performances of “Christmas Tradition,” “As Snow Starts to Fall” and “Mistletoe Land.”
Unable to find sheet music for a tune he wanted to share with his concert audience, Jordan transcribed by ear Ray Stevens’ “Santa Claus is Watching You,” the theme to the movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
Tickets for the Dec. 18 Christmas concert begin at $10.
