The Celts are coming! (with photos)
Lovers of Celtic culture (and that’s pronounced “Keltic,” not “Seltic” like the basketball team) won’t want to miss the Scottish Celtic Connection Concert coming up Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30p.m. at the Pensacola Cultural Center (home of the Pensacola Little Theatre).
Enjoy an evening of bagpipes, fiddles, whistles, and all things Celtic, including that famed, vigorous Celtic dancing, when the Duncan McCall Pipe Band and Mithril perform their award-winning music in downtown Pensacola.
Duncan McCall, an award winning bagpipe band, is considered one of the top pipe bands in the South. In addition to traditional Scottish band tunes, you will hear top-rated pipers and drummers performing at their best. You will also enjoy solos, duets and quartets performing jigs, reels and hornpipes on various types of bagpipes.
Add to that a patriotic special, a beautiful violin and smallpipes duet, and a heart warming rendition of “Amazing Grace,” which, when performed on the pipes never fails to send a thrill down one’s spine, and you have an enchanting evening you won't forget.
Mithril is one of the most sought after Celtic music groups on the concert series scene. The band’s unique progressive style has its roots in traditional Celtic music but moves far beyond that, weaving such diverse influences as American folk, classical, and Middle Eastern melodies into their full tapestry of sound.
Tickets for this unforgettable evening of Celtic music and dance are $15 for adults and $10 for students. To purchase tickets, call Pensacola Little Theatre at (850) 432-2042.
