‘Madama Butterfly’
JAN. 20 & 22 • The Pensacola Opera presents one of the world’s most beloved operas with their production of Puccini’s tragic story of “Madama Butterfly.” Set in Japan in the early 20th century, the opera tells the tragic tale of Cio-Cio San (Butterfy) who is abandoned and dishonored by a caddish American naval officer.

‘Beauty…’ auditions
JAN. 26 • The Florida Chautauqua Theatre announces auditions for high school and college students and young adult performers for roles in the Disney musical “Beauty and the Beast.” Auditions will be 5:30 p.m. at the theater, 840 Baldwin Ave. in historic downtown DeFuniak Springs. Great Night concert
JAN. 29 • The annual Great Night of Methodist Singing will be held at 6 p.m. on the Main Stage of the Mattie Kelley Performing Arts Center on the Northwest Florida State College Niceville campus. The annual concert features great ecclesiastical choral music performed by Methodist church choirs from throughout the county, including vocalists from Crestview. Each church’s music director gets to conduct the mass choir in a selection, accompanied by the respective choirs’ organists. There is no admission fee and the concert is open to the public.
CALA winter arts festival
FEB. 4 • The Okaloosa Arts Alliance-North presents the annual Crestview Area Loves the Arts (CALA) student, amateur and professional winter art exhibit. Students from all area schools, as well as all local artists, are invited to exhibit works in any media or demonstrate performing arts talent from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room of the Crestview Public Library.

Arts Alliance meeting
FEB. 7 • The Okaloosa Arts Alliance-North committee holds its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the Crestview Public Library meeting room. The meeting is open to all student, professional and amateur artists, art lovers and art instructors, including both visual and performing arts.
