Williams graduating May 9 with doctorate

Patrice A. Williams, a Jackson, Ala., native and Crestview resident, will graduate with a doctorate in Higher Education Administration May 9 from the University of Southern Mississippi.

She successfully defended her dissertation on the Scholarship of Teaching at Community Colleges on March 7.

She earned her B.S. in English and Psychology from the University of South Alabama, her M.A. in English Literature from the University of Mobile, and her Ed.S in English Education from Florida State University.

Williams began her tenure with Northwest Florida State College in 2003 as a full-time English professor, and was an active part of several faculty-related and collegewide committees. She became the Robert L.F. Sikes Education Center's director at NWFSC's Crestview campus on June 3 and still teaches composition.

Williams is an adviser for the African American Student Association NWFSC chapter, an Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women member and secretary for the Okaloosa County 4-H Association Board.
