CRESTVIEW — Shoal River Middle School’s football and cross country teams have an extra $1,500 following Saturday’s Wet and Wild Mustang 5K.

More than 100 people got wet from water guns, sprinklers and a Crestview Fire Department fire hose while running the race on the school track.

Fun aside, the main goal didn’t escape one young athlete’s mind.

"It's nice to raise money for our press box by just doing some fun stuff and getting in shape," Chris Raines, 13, the school's starting quarterback, said.

Sean Aguilar, who participated with his son Koby, 12, a cross country team member, said the event allowed him to learn firsthand about the team’s challenging runs.
