CRESTVIEW — Shoal River Middle School will receive new microwave ovens in the cafeteria and banners for a new press box following Friday's War Ball fundraiser.

The student council raised $900 from a superhero-themed "war ball" benefit; that's just $100 less than last year's event proceeds, organizer Lori Eckels said.

"The idea is do something for all of the kids, and they obviously think this is fun," she said.

And it's familiar, student council members Emily Grace Robinson and Erica Kile, both 12, said.

"(War ball) is a game that all of the students who take (physical education) play," Erica said.
