CRESTVIEW — The Antioch Aviators rallied this year to raise more than $4,000 for Children in Crisis.
Antioch Elementary students contributed "Change for Children" in their classrooms during a grade-level competition. Principal Wanda Avery allowed teachers to pay to wear jeans four weeks during the school year.
"Jax Murphy, a first-grade Aviator, took the initiative to contact friends and family around the country," raising almost $200 himself, Antioch remediation teacher Alice Thomas stated in a news release.
Faculty and staff members raffled gift baskets during the Christmas season.
"It truly was a school-wide effort to raise money for children in our community," Thomas stated.
Children in Crisis constructed the Children’s Neighborhood, which includes an emergency shelter for children removed without notice from an unsafe environment, family foster homes for young children and two teen transition homes for foster children aging out of care.
