    BAKER — A sluggish start didn’t deter the Baker girls basketball team from a strong finish against District 2-1A foe Freeport on Monday. The Gators trailed the Bulldogs 6-3 after the first quarter with the lone score coming on a 3-point basketball by Haley Wagner.     The Florida High School Athletic Association a couple of weeks ago released proposed districts for the 2013 and 2014 football seasons. If the new districts stand, which they probably will, Crestview will play join Niceville, Navarre and Tate in a new District 1-7A.     CRESTVIEW — Melvin “Catfish” Hill’s face lights up when he talks about youth baseball. All one has to do is spend five minutes with Hill to realize his passion is teaching young people the game he loves. This year, Hill, the Crestview Little League’s president, has even more to be excited about. For the first time in more than a decade, Little League baseball will be offered in Crestview.     BAKER — The Baker girls soccer team had another day of growing pains Saturday as the Gators hosted Port St. Joe in a doubleheader. Baker lost the first game 4-0 before. After taking a break for the boys to play, the Gators lost 2-1 in the second game to fall to 3-8 on the season. READ MORE

    BAKER — An experienced Port St. Joe boys soccer team flexed its muscle against Baker on Saturday in doubleheader action. The Sharks beat the Gators 6-3 in the first game and won the nightcap 8-0, dropping Baker to 0-9 on the season. READ MORE
