Police arrival doesn't stop threats from battery suspect

A Crestview man was arrested July 5 and charged with battery by strangulation after an altercation with a local woman, according to a Crestview Police Department report.

The woman told police the suspect grabbed her around the neck and tried to strangle her. Police reported redness on the woman's neck. The woman said the suspect also applied pressure to the back of her jaw utilizing the pressure point. Police also observed redness in that area.

Police tried to speak with the suspect, "but he was unable to speak clearly or stand and seemed to be under the influence of alcohol," according to the incident report. Police reported the suspect continued to threaten the woman as she spoke with officers.
