LAUREL HILL — A man returned home from school to find his truck tire
had been shredded, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office
offense report.
The report states it appeared someone had driven the truck with a flat
tire and damaged the rear end of the vehicle, the tire and possibly the
brake line.
The man said he did not give anyone permission to drive the vehicle and it was still locked.
However, the front door to the house was unlocked and the man noticed his keys weren’t where he had left them.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at about $1,200, according to the report.
Man flees across pasture to avoid facing deputy
LAUREL HILL — A man decided he'd rather risk stepping in cow poop than facing a deputy with questions about the validity of his driver's license.
The man abandoned his car in the parking lot of the Tom Thumb in Laurel Hill after an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy asked him for his license and registration, according to an incident report.
The deputy had seen the man get out of the Toyota Camry, but, after he came out of the Tom Thumb, the man denied it was he who had been been driving the car.
The car’s license plate had expired and the man’s driving privileges had been revoked in February, the deputy learned.
Confronted by the deputy, the man took off running through an open field, ignoring the deputy’s orders to stop.
A warrant is being sought for the man’s arrest on the charges of driving with a suspended license and resisting an officer without violence.
