Crestview man charged with DUI while children in car

A Crestview man is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and felony child neglect.

Dimitri Marcel Tolden, 30, of the 500 block of Tikell Drive was pulled over April 24 during a traffic stop by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy on Hughes Drive in Fort Walton Beach.

    The deputy had observed Tolden’s vehicle swerving erratically and making an improper turn into oncoming traffic, according to a press release. A 17-month old child and a 4-month old infant were passengers in the car, the release states.

    An investigation revealed Tolden had driven from Crestview to Fort Walton Beach with the children after consuming alcohol at home, and that he had stopped to buy more beer en route to Fort Walton Beach, drinking the alcohol while continuing to drive with the children in the back seat, the report states.

Tolden is in custody at the Okaloosa County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
