Woman hurls water bottle at deputy, charged with assault
CRESTVIEW -- A 25-year-old Baker woman was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer after she threw a water bottle at an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy who was trying to interview her sister.
The deputy had gone to the jail at about 2:30 on Jan. 4 to talk with the woman's sister. The suspect "attempted to interfere with the conversation," the deputy wrote in his report. When he told her he would get to her in a minute, she began to scream and cause a disturbance.
Jail personnel attempted to remove her from the intake area, at which point she picked up a water bottle and threw it at the deputy. She missed him by several feet, the report noted.
Another deputy witnessed the incident and confirmed that the woman had thrown the water bottle with the intent to hit the first deputy.
