Some chicken fingers and a feminine wash
A Crestview woman is accused of failing to pay for chicken eaten in a local grocery store and for feminine hygiene products said to have used in the store’s bathroom.
The woman is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 17 on a misdemeanor charge of larceny, retail theft in an incident that reportedly occurred earlier this month at the Publix grocery story on South Ferdon Boulevard.
The woman was caught on video surveillance tape eating chicken from the deli as she walked through the grocery store, a Crestview Police Department report states.
After finishing the chicken, the surveillance tape captured the woman as she picked up feminine hygiene products and took them into the bathroom.
An employee who checked the bathroom after the woman left found, among other things, an empty bottle of a vinegar and water feminine-wash product, such as those produced by Massengill and Summer’s Eve.
The videotape depicted the woman leaving the store without paying for the items, the police report states.
Police were able to track the woman down because she had cashed a $300 Western Union check at the store before she allegedly stole the chicken and feminine hygiene products.
The woman was apologetic and told police she took the items because the Western Union check was sent to help her to pay off a worthless check she had written and that she could not afford the purchase price, the report states.
As a courtesy, it is the Crestview News Bulletin policy to withhold the name of those charged with misdemeanor crimes.
