NICEVILLE — With the 2013-14 regular soccer season winding down, Crestview High School’s boys soccer team is focusing on the District 1-4A tournament that opens Tuesday at Navarre.

The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the seventh seed and play the No. 2 seed Navarre Raiders in the tournament opener

Crestview Coach Scottie Milton found some positives in the regular-season finale despite the Bulldogs losing to top seed Niceville 3-0 on Thursday.

“This should give us a little confidence,” he said. “That’s one of the top teams..."

The Eagles did all their scoring in the first half as Michael Swiercz scored twice and Parker White picked up the third Niceville goal.

Up 3-0 at the start of the second half, it looked as if the Eagles would put the Bulldogs away quickly.

But as has been the case throughout the season, Crestview played tough in the second half and in the process held Niceville scoreless.

“I just think we fought a little harder in the second half,” Milton said. “They always play a little harder when we fall behind by a couple of goals. That’s what I talked about before the game.

“I was kind of disappointed we didn’t get off to a better start.”

Milton said David Born, Danny Born and Blake Brooks played well for the Bulldogs in the loss to Niceville.
