CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa Rollers will donate a portion of proceeds from Saturday's roller derby to the Wounded Warrior Project.  The rollers will face the Mississippi Brawl Stars at 6:30 p.m. at Davidson Middle School.

"Many of our skaters are military, so this month's charity is very special to us," said team referee Danielle Jordan.

Jordan, who heads the team’s sponsorships this year, said the team regularly donates 20 percent of ticket sales to their charity of choice.

All funds not used toward the match ─for overhead like venue payment, track tape, and playersÂ’ food and water ─will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The nonprofit organization raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for injured service membersÂ’ needs.

The Okaloosa Rollers, in the middle of their second season, maintain a team of 11 women players, with two coaches and two referees.

The Okaloosa Rollers represent the entire county, Jordan said.

"We have girls not just from Crestview but from Baker, Fort Walton Beach and Eglin (Air Force Base)," Jordan said. "We are always looking for more."
